It’s time to decide on the topic of our second 30 day challenge, and I have to admit I’m kind of excited to be done with yoga. It’s great as a rest day workout, but it’s just not nearly as intense as I want my workouts to be. I may still do it a few times this month, but it won’t be an everyday thing.

This month’s challenge has three separate parts to it. First, we challenged each other to read our scriptures every day. I saw a meme the other day that said “If you’re too busy to pray and read scriptures, you’re busier than God intended you to be” and that kind of hit me. I also want to make sure I’m setting a good example for my children so they know from a young age to make God a priority in their lives.

For the second part, I will continue my daily Rosetta Stone challenge so I’m prepared to kick butt Fall semester. I don’t have much more to say about this than I already have in previous posts. I feel like I’m making slow progress, but I’m hoping that with another month of daily work I’ll be ready to test out of the next two Spanish classes. 🙂

For the third part, we challenged each other to workout a minimum of 5 days per week. For me, a workout will usually be either Insanity, Martial Arts, or running, but as long as it’s at least 30 minutes and has a medium to high intensity I’m fine with it. I don’t feel like I made much progress with my weight loss after a month of yoga, so I’m excited to change it up a bit! I have a little bit of added incentive to make most of my workouts Martial Arts though — since the hubby is starting to teach again, he’s got one brand new black belt and it would be a really big deal to be the first one of his students to earn it! He’s not the kind of guy who’d give me special treatment (quite the opposite actually) and he won’t give the belt out until it’s really earned even if it takes ten years, so I’m going to really have to bust my behind to be first.

With these challenges in mind, my goals for this week (July 1st-7th)are:

  • Write 11 freelance articles (I’ve already committed to them, it’ll just put me ahead for the month)
  • Rosetta Stone daily
  • Scriptures daily
  • Martial Arts (W, Th, F, M, T)
  • Running or Insanity (2-3 days for cross-training and extra cardio)
  • Reorganize my office
  • Keep laundry and dishes caught up
  • Find places for everything inside the huge blue storage bin I’m trying to empty

I have a little calendar I printed out for the month hung in my office so I can keep track of everything I should be doing daily. It can be hard to get things done with little kids around, but I think keeping my days structured will help keep me from too much lounging or napping while still giving me free time to play with the kiddos. It’s going to be a fun month!

Do you have any goals you’re trying to reach this month?

What daily habits are important to you, and how do you make sure they’re always a priority?
