This has actually been a good week, but the busyness/craziness factor has been a little off the charts! I’m a little late to the party, but Thursdays (Sunday night is like Thursday, right?) are time to link up with Amanda for Thinking out Loud!

I don’t know why I’ve avoided plantains all my life, but I’m about to buy the store out of them! 😛 The hubby fried some in coconut oil for our movie night with the kids, and they tasted like a cross between beer battered french fries and tater tots — so yummy! I’ve always been a popcorn with movies kind of girl, so it’s awesome to find healthier (and cheap!) options for snacking.

I’m not sure what’s cuter, the fact that he stole one of Daddy’s socks and hid it in the stroller so he could wear it, or that he’s completely set on unhooking his own seat-belt. Thankfully he didn’t succeed with the seatbelt, but since he picked the lock to my bedroom with a spoon yesterday I can’t imagine he’s far behind. Seriously, little man is taking Houdini to the next level!

I love our library! Seriously, having toys and a castle for the kids to play in is the biggest lifesaver ever! It’s the only way I ever have time to find them any books, otherwise the “I’m bored” meltdowns start far too soon…

What do you do when you have to walk a mile each way when it’s 108 degrees out to pick up some clothes for your daughter? Pack lots of ice water, and find some kids selling sno-cones out of their garage! I didn’t have one, but Micah thought that was a much better way to keep cool than ice water. 😛 And don’t worry, the kiddos were shaded the whole time, and had iced water bottles in their seats to make sure they didn’t get overheated.

It also helped that on our way home from getting the clothes we ran into our neighbor, who invited us to swim! The boys really loved the water and I was happy to get them cooled down really fast. It’s fun to make new friends (for the adults and the kiddos lol) and we’re looking forward to many more play dates! 🙂

I’ve determined that this is why spring cleaning and getting organized are taking me so long lol. We had Micah earlier than expected so people from our church packed the last few boxes and the entire kitchen, and then my in-laws started unpacking for us. Absolutely no complaint there, but I’m convinced I would have thrown away a LOT more stuff if I’d been the one loading and unloading the boxes. 😛 It’s OK though, even though it’s taking a while I’m starting to see real progress, and I’m excited to be able to look around my house and not see any clutter! Or have someone drop by unexpectedly and actually be able to invite them in without dying of embarrassment about the state of the house! 🙂
