It’s been waaaaay too long since I’ve had a real workout, but I finally felt up to it last night. I’m still not sleeping much, and not working out for 2 weeks really took a toll on my already depleted energy levels. The worst part is that when I’m not working out, it gets really easy to eat like a 5-year-old in a candy store — way too much of the wrong stuff. Working out just makes eating the right stuff so much easier.
Today started with a weird mishmash of leftovers for breakfast that was surprisingly yummy.
Brussels sprouts, asparagus, sweet potatoes, cauliflower/potato mash, and a couple of meatballs — a yummy way to kill some leftovers!
Lunch was also leftovers. I made turkey meatloaf and cauliflower/potato mash on Sunday and it wasn’t super flavorful, so we had a ton left over. It was super easy to season it properly and warm it up though, so I’m calling it a win!
After lunch I put the kids down for a nap and glued myself to the computer.
I had my oral Spanish final yesterday, and I felt so unprepared I was practically hyperventilating just thinking about it. Ironically, I was one of the most prepared students in my group, and my bigger concern is that it wasn’t like a real conversation at all, it was more like me throwing out as many questions as possible so someone other than me was actually talking. Hopefully I still get a good grade! Now I just have an oral presentation video to make today and my final on Friday, and then I’m off for a few days until session B starts. It’s been a little rough being in school with the boys at this age, but I know it’ll be worth it so I keep plugging away!
After getting the boys up I pulled out my phone and saw this….
which is exciting for so many reasons! I can’t even tell you the last time it was in the low 70s at 3pm, but it’s been a REALLY long time. That means the season for morning or afternoon runs is almost here! It’s supposed to go back into the 90s this week, but the constant summer heat is finally finished. 🙂 Of course with the storms the sun set kind of early, so we wound up running after dark again.
Jonah was super amused by the wind, and despite the lack of smile Micah had fun too. He’s starting to take after his father; he really doesn’t like it when I pull out the camera. The little stinker started looking away and glaring at me the second I took a picture!
The rest of the evening was pretty low-key. Micah ate his dinner…
Then stole part of Jonah’s dinner while I wasn’t looking. I love that mischievous look, he totally knew he was being naughty and was just trying to smile his way out of it.
Jonah didn’t mind that much. He’s lost his patience with purees lately, and he is constantly grabbing at solids. We’ve added a ton of solids to his diet, and generally he’ll eat at least a little (but more likely a lot) of whatever I’m eating before he nurses. He even stole an entire piece of pizza from Micah and took normal bites out of it — crazy!
Nursing has also been a bit up and down for us. He doesn’t have any trouble with it, but there are days that he’s completely uninterested. Thankfully most days he still nurses at least 5 times, even if he protests a bit. I feel a little horrible to say this but it would be kind of awesome to wean him and have my body to myself again if formula wasn’t so expensive. It’s not that I don’t love it, but I’ve been either pregnant or nursing for 2 months shy of 3 years now without a break in between. I’m kind of worn out, I don’t know how other moms have back to back babies and still nurse long-term — they’re seriously rock stars!
It’s about time for the kids to nap, so I have 2-3 hours to workout, shower, throw in a load of dishes, and tackle clean laundry mountain! Fingers crossed that nap time is as productive as I need it to be. 🙂
