This weekend is probably the last time we’ll get to the park for a while, so I’m glad the kids had so much fun. For those of you who don’t live in Arizona, once it hits summer a park is basically a bug infested oven. We waded through a fog of gnats and mosquitoes, but we stuck it out and had a great time.
Kinsey is getting really strong — I swear it was only yesterday that she couldn’t get herself to the second handle on the monkey bars and now she’s zooming across them like it’s nothing. It’s such an odd combination of proud and sad watching your kids grow up…
One of the biggest issues that people have with maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the lack of an adequate support system. I’m lucky enough to have a husband that encourages me to workout and eat healthy, but nothing is more effective than having a partner who will workout and eat healthy with you. My husband usually eats generally healthy, but he can “cheat” fairly often without having to worry about his weight which is something I’m just not blessed with. Because he knows I sometimes struggle with sticking with good habits, my husband challenged me to a year of 30 day challenges. We’ll alternate who gets to pick the challenge, and even though it doesn’t have to be something specifically related to diet or workouts, it has to be something associated with a healthier lifestyle overall.
For this month he found a free 30 day yoga challenge online (yogawithadriene.com), and he also challenged me to work on my Spanish at least once per day. We purchased Spanish and Italian on Rosetta Stone a few months ago to help me with school, and I’ve decided to try to finish at least the first levels (there are 5 total) this month. The goal is to test out of my next few Spanish classes so I can graduate earlier — I’m spending way too much money every semester! ASU Online is almost $2000 more per semester than ASU, and I feel like I miss so much time with the kids while I’m doing homework. I can’t wait to be done! I’m not as excited about the daily yoga just because it’s hard to find time for that and Insanity, but hopefully it will help my flexibility and stress levels.
Does anyone have any ideas for what I should make our next challenge?
