I would like to express my gratitude to the men and women who serve this country and keep all of us safe. I can never repay the sacrifices you have all made, but I will never stop being grateful for them. Happy Memorial Day!

This weekend has been challenging in the best way possible. I’ve managed to keep my diet really clean, and I’m less than half a pound from winning my DietBet. Even when my husband brought home pizza, I didn’t touch it. At least I had something yummy to fall back on!

I’m still juicing every day and eating mostly veggies with some fish and legumes thrown in, and in general it’s not nearly as hard to stick to as I thought it would be. I seriously want some Oreos and a diet Dr Pepper, but other than that eliminating dairy and flour/sugar hasn’t been as hard as I expected. Once the DietBet is done, I plan to stick really close to the way I’ve been eating this week, but not completely cut out any particular food group. The biggest win for me is that I know I’m keeping my portions in check again, but I don’t feel deprived or hungry after every meal. I weigh in tomorrow night, so fingers crossed I can shave off that last little bit in time to win!

In other news, I have the cutest kids ever! This week at church, Micah learned how to play piano…

and vacuum! I wish they made tiny kid vacuums that actually worked, I’d never worry about the dog hair on my carpet again…

I would also like to point out that little boy suits are pretty much the cutest thing in the universe! Doesn’t hurt that my boys are so handsome  😛

I’m also working to get my spring cleaning done. I haven’t been able to completely stick to my daily plan, but I’ve made a lot of progress. It’s a little bit scary how much clutter there still is in our house after how much I’ve gotten rid of or packed into storage. I’d also like to point out that even for 5 people, we have an unholy amount of laundry! I was mostly caught up on our laundry the first week of my spring cleaning mission, and it took less than a week for me to have four overflowing baskets of clean laundry begging to be hung, plus loads in the washer and dryer. I definitely need to work on donating clothes, because there just isn’t any reason to have so much of it.

We have two of the bigger projects almost finished now — the pantry and the garage — and I’m really excited about them both. We put some shelves into our downstairs hall closet and made it into a pantry, and I really love it. There are a couple of things I still have to move into it, but it’s been great to actually have space for food. The hubby got the garage mostly clean, and once it’s finished he’s going to start teaching Martial Arts again. He’s been really missing teaching, and I’m excited that he’ll be able to start doing something he’s so passionate about again. Ideally I’d like to add more mats and move our other workout equipment into our guest room, but we’ll see how many students he has and how much space they need before we do anything too crazy. We both have a lot of out-of-town family, so if we got rid of our guest bed we’d definitely need a nice futon or pullout in the loft. Either way, I’m just excited for the possibilities! They’re not quite ready for me to share pictures, but they will be soon. 🙂

Do you have any big projects underway right now? How do you stay on track?
