I have my final postpartum doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and I’m expecting to be fully cleared to workout. The last week I’ve been walking a lot more, and occasionally doing a T25 workout, but I’ve still been taking it easy until I have the official OK from the midwife. While I was thinking a lot about how I need to get back into a regular schedule of workouts, I ran across a blog post by Caitlin about cumulatively finishing an Ironman in the month of April. I love the idea of adding up my workouts to reach an overall goal like that, but I don’t have regular access to a pool and I don’t own a bike anymore. I’m also not in nearly good enough shape yet to finish a marathon, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 2.4 mile swim in a single month (yet!). In the spirit of Caitlin’s “Ironman April”, I’m going to complete my own “Marathon April” — run/walk 26.2 miles by the end of the month. It’s a motivating goal to work towards, and as a bonus it’ll actually get me out of the house regularly. When you work from home, go to school online, and have a newborn, leaving the house can seem like more of a hassle than it’s worth and I’ve become a bit of a shut-in since Jonah was born. The only setback will be the heat, but after living in Arizona almost 15 years it’s probably about time I got used to the summer weather.

A marathon in a month is less than a mile per day — who wants to join me?
