Happy Mother’s Day to all the awesome Moms out there! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be Mom to two amazing kids, and I hope that I can always live up to that responsibility and be the best Mom possible. I am also grateful today for my own Mother — I don’t think I appreciated her nearly as much as I should have until I grew up, moved out, and had kids of my own. My mom was always there for us, and always did what was right (even when we wished she wouldn’t). She has given me an amazing example of how to be a great Mom to my Baby Boy, and I hope I can always live up to that example.
On a different note, I have been pretty scarce the last 2 weeks but I am back with a vengeance now. My entire family caught a ridiculously evil stomach virus (which we then passed on to our poor house guests the next week), and my workout program and writing were pretty derailed by the vomiting and generally feeling terrible. By the time we managed to get over it, it was finals week at ASU! I have never needed a semester to be over so badly before, and I am happy to say that for better or worse I am DONE until August. It has been really hard to keep up with school while worrying about work and trying to spend time with Baby Boy and Big Sister. Nothing makes you feel like a terrible Mom like coming home from work after not seeing your baby all day, and then ignoring him more so you can get your homework done. I know it will be worth it eventually, but I feel like I’m missing out on some of the most amazing times with him. It hurts to spend so much time away from him — I’m hoping someday I will find a way to work from home with him, or maybe even live off my writing.
Because of the hiatus, I started back again today with Day 17 of the Bikini Body Mommy Workout — holy WOW does two weeks off make a difference! No matter how crazy things get, I need to NEVER go that long without a workout again. I will weigh in again on MAY 21, and I invite all of you to post your results with me! I am working hard on keeping my diet clean, and lunch was a simple but yummy concoction — black rice, onions, black beans, frozen spinach, and some feta cheese, all cooked in coconut oil — pretty much everything I make now is made with coconut oil, and I definitely owe you a post on why.
It was really good, and I’m excited to be back on the clean eating/daily workout bandwagon! It surprised me how easy it was to fall off, but that is NOT going to happen again. It just feels too good to be healthy, and completely awful to be fat and out of shape.
I’m looking forward to a relaxing evening with my family, maybe working on my book in between Baby Boy cuddles 🙂
